In the online-charging functions described by 3GPP TS 32.240, the Rating Function determines the value of network-resource usage described in a charging event and returns monetary or non-monetary rating output to the Online Charging Function. The same specification also identifies RF within the converged charging system; this page describes a public architectural term rather than a particular deployed component.
For a technical reviewer, the distinction is between the concept of rating and the commercial rules, data sources, interfaces, and software that would implement it. This domain provides an independent descriptive identity. Its relationship to the Sensing Charging package is optional and subject to agreement.
